Your alternator puts out more voltage (even more than the new battery). So if you lock/unlock with the vehicle running, it would be the worst scenario for you. And your OEM battery was new at some time. It is the the age/use of the lock motor.

Strictly coincidence. The new battery= more power would help, not burn them out.
