Default Transfer case clarification

Apologies at the outset, I'm a newbie (bought my AWD RX300 4 days ago)and got confused because the term "transfer case" is used in more than one way, so I would appreciate if someone could clear up the following......

On TunedRX300's excellent sticky "RX300 AWD Transmission Fluid, Pan, Filter Change" we are changing the fluid for the automatic transmission and the front differential (for "front differential" the term "transfer case" is used). Is photo 1 of the front differential with a hex key in it?

Then on LexMex's equally excellent sticky "Rear differential/Transfer case fluids (for those of you with an AWD RX300)", we are changing the rear differential fluid and the transfer case fluid to the rear drive. Is photo 2the transfer case (which is a different transfer case to photo 1)?

Many thanks and apologies again!

the first picture shows the transaxle which shares tranny fluid...the second picture is the transfer case which uses gear lube.....

Just make sure you can open the filler hole of the rear diff before attempting to open the drain. Lots of horror stories about stripped filler and lube drained out

Guys, I've did it! I've changed tranny fluid, filter, transfer box fluid, front and rear diff oil. Could not be done without your help thanks a million.
