Unhappy Starting problem

Hi, I'm a new comer and need advice from experts here.

I have a 2000 RX300 with starting problem. When engine is cold, it cranks and start right away. Once engine warm after trip and restart, it cranks but won't start for the first try, then crank for 2-3 seconds and it starts on second/third try. I did clean IACV and MAF already. Please advice.

Welcome to the Club.

How much times goes by say from starting warm, driving, and then trying to recrank it. I.e, for example, if you make a run to say the 7/11 nearby, would you have problems cranking it, or is it after a much longer drive?

In addition, would like to know how long you've had your current battery?

Thanks Lexmex. Let say, I've been driving for 45 minutes and let the car seat for 15 minutes before I start and go again. I'm not sure how old is the battery since I brought it as a 2nd hand. I guess that battery may have 3-4years old.

I'd get the voltage checked. Best and easiest advice would be to drive it somewhere like an auto parts shop or somewhere they can test (and before starting it up a second time) and see where the voltage is at. It doesn't sound like a starter since you aren't having issues consecutively. Did you get it second hand from a private seller or a dealer? Reason I ask was that mine came from a dealer (non-Lexus) and the vehicle sat for sometime and I ran across the 1:00 a.m. clock issue that is a sign of a battery problem (shows 1:00 a.m. after starting up the car and stays there).

Thanks Lexmex. My one is from private seller. I'll try to check battery voltage first. One more hence, the radio/AC control monitor will go black when I crank for the second/third try. But nothing reset even the time still there (not reset to 1:00).

Battery replaced but starting problem still exist. Idle turned rough and rpm down to 400. VSC and CEL both on for a week. Code check P0505 need to replace IACV. Problem fixed today by replacing IACV and starting problem seems OK now. Will update in a week and see if everything go smooth.

Thomas, It was those 7 girls and 2 boys that wore you out. Or maybe it was actually the 7 girls and the boys didn't have anything to do with it! JK

Unhappy

Update: 19Dec2011

Starting problem fixed by dealer finally. 2 O-ring gaskets were not seated properly while changing fuel filter last time which caused the problem. Now it starts like a champ. However, vibration in D drive during stop still exist, dealer recommend to replace all engine and tranny mounts, but not sure the problem will fix or not
