Brake Hoses

I haven't ever done so on any car. I probably shouldn't be bragging about that. But, i haven't. LOL
I don't see a need, even though I live in the snow belt. The brake hoses are in good shape.

I think the radiator/heater hoses would be a higher priority. You have dual braking systems. Any leak would only effect part of the braking, and a leak would trigger a warning light on the dash for low brake fluid level. I know brakes are very important and full braking could mean the difference between safety and disaster, but loss of coolant at highway speeds could destroy an engine.

Enthusiasts do not like the rubber properties of expansion under pressure and they change them to stainless steel braided pipes. You will see lots of folks in the GS forum who made the switch. In the RX forum I have seen at least one member who did the switch.
If I was to replace them, I would install the stainless.

You seek info which may not be readily available. Lexus/Toyota gets many parts from other manufacturers like Aisin.
Other problem is the product trail. How can a purchaser ensure that the actual product was manufactured by reputable manufacturer like Aisin.
Sorry can't be of much help.

happen to know if "profressional grade" (i.e. by raybestos) is stainless or just better quality rubber hose? which is better? the professional seem to cost more.

when they say that they automatically add 2 to your cart. "price reflects cost of each item." i remember thinking the same thing before with other items and being disappointed. considering these cost upwards of $50 on other sites for two it makes sense.

so i've done some research and it turns out almost all the aftermarket parts (on rockauto at least) i.e. sunsong, centric, dorman, wagner, are actually all the same chinese sunsong hose being sold in different boxes at different prices. even the raybestos professional grade at twice the cost is a sunsong hose (which may or may not be of different quality but i'm guessing it's not since they don't even sell other hoses). i'm hesitant to use use a chinese hose, and the more research i do on SS hoses the more comments i see about failures, ruptures, and short lifespan. does anyone have any experience with any of these hoses? or maybe i'll just buy one $100 oem hose to replace the chafed one and leave the other ones be. it seems like brake hoses aren't part of any replacement schedule but considering it's a part that deteriorates and how critical they are to safety I'm not sure what to do. i would totally change them all with oem hoses if they weren't so expensive. any input?
