I've decided to buy an RX 300. I drove one for the first time yesterday. My question is about pricing. While I don't mind paying a fair price I would like some opinions on what a fair price is. According to the salesman, the 2004 model will be available in April '03. That means that the 2003's will only be available for 6 months or so. My question is this - how much off of sticker should a dealer sell an '03 and how much off on an '02? Doesn't the new body style apply pressure to deal, especially if they will only be around for the first quarter of '03? One poster suggested that invoice on an '02 and a couple hundred dollars more for an '03 - what's the concensus? Thanks for the help

I've seen this question asked before and there were a variety of opinions on the subject. But generally you should never have to pay more than $500 over factory invoice on a premium vehicle. Market adjustment and MSRP should go out the window before you even start out on the lot...

It's not always easy to haggle... your success is going to depend heavily on the specific dealer's market. How well are they doing and how loaded is their inventory? Also I'm told your chances go up towards the end of the month and even towards the end of the year. I bought my RX in the middle of December last year and got it for $4000 under the standard dealer prices at the time.

Good luck,
Hando
