Navigation System Position changes
Hello,
Does anyone have an idea why the location on the Navigation System might change. I can set up the Position and aslong as the car is on, the Nav system works flawlessly. If I shut the car off , the position changes to some random position...sometimes even another state. Can anyone help with this?

First of all I don not have a factory nav so take the following with a grain of salt ,,,
When you start GPS it takes a while to acquire and process enough data to determine where you are .. example is if it gets data from one satellite, all it can do is determine that it is somewhere on a radius of foot print on the surface of the earth. [Assuming the satellite is directly above St. Luis, the receiver would be say on the circumference of a 500 miles radius around St. Luis). As it acquires 2nd and 3rd satellite data it starts drawing circles and as then places the receiver on where they intersect.
The engineers added a bit of smartness, the feature of storing last position and that is used as the initial guess of the position.
From your description it seems your GPS is working fine and the problem seems to be
a) Memory is loosing the last known location.
b) Start from last location is disabled.
For a, it is a hardware problem or possible a weak battery. [this would be my first guess]
For b, you will have to read the manual or wait for some one to comment.
