Unhappy New SAD member...TRAC off and VSC lights

Hi All...
I just bought my used RX 300. My trac off and VSC lights have come on. I have already replaced the gas cap; after doing that.. the lights stayed off for approximately 500 miles. Now they are back on again. I am a college student and don't have a lot of money to put into repairs. I don't know what to do. Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Have the code read by shop like AutoZone and then we can take a stab at what can be wrong. Lexus repairs can be expensive.

Did you have the RX checked by a mechanic or go over maintenance records?

As above ^^^get the codes checked first, there's over 180 of them and it could be anything...

thank you for the reply:
I did as suggested...
I had someone read the codes... after a $50 charge .. the mechanic told me to go get a new gas cap and also attached back some little tube on the back side of the air filter. So far so good.

I sure hope this fixed my problem.

I pray this vechile is a reliable one.

thanks... will keep you posted ...

AutoZone reads the codes for free.I failed to mention that in my reply, but next time go to them or other shops who read the code for free.

Please take the time to read the user manual. It would have told you to tighten the gas cap .. I generally stop after hearing 3 clicks.

You likely don't need a new cap. The lights were triggered by the tube that was on the back of the air filter housing. It was likely knocked off by someone changing the air filter.

Hypervish is correct. All my warming lights work perfect after putting the tube BEHIND the air filter back on.
Fast lube joints always knock it off.
other DIY's you can do easlily are:
1. change cabin air filter
2. replace broken antenna mast ( I did it tonight in 20 minutes.)
3. take the time to CLAY BAR and wax.
