Default danged ol transmission ggrrrrr.

I have a 99 rx 300 and no all about the crappy transmission.Ive had my car about a month.the transmission fluid is pink and dont smell burnt but it sometimes when i stop and start to go itll get up to 2000 rpm before it starts to move and then sometimes its fine.I put it on a machine and the knock sensors bad so it sometimes wont go into overdrive. So i guess my question is do you think im about to lose transmission? If i shut it off or put it into park then drive itll accelerate fine.Kinda puzzles me.

Change that transmission fluid asap, and filter. Sounds like it could be a clogged filter. If you continue driving it in this condition which it sounds like you did, then it might fail.

If the knock sensors are bad, that's the thing that needs to be fixed before evaluating the transmission.

However, note, if you have a FWD RX300, then

For the U140E transmission (FWD)
Dry fill: 8.25 liters (8.72 US quarts, 7.26 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill: 3.5 liters (3.7 US qts, 3.1 Imp. qts)

and for the AWD,

For the U140F transmission (AWD)
Dry fill: 9.15 liters (9.67 US qts, 8.05 Imp. qts)
Drain and refill: 4.1 liters (4.3 US qts, 3.6 Imp qts)

The only fluids compatible (and superior to the OEM Toyota Type-IV) at O'Reillys are:

Mobil 1 ATF
Royal Purple Max ATF

As far as the filter,
