High Mileage RX Owners, Speak Up!

1999 RX300 AWD with 160,000 miles. Bought new in 1999 and has been pretty reliable. Had some problems with stalling at ~60,000 miles which cost me over $1000 in unnecessary repairs until they found a faulty TPS (a $100 repair back then). Needless to say, I was pissed and let them know it!
Most recently, I had a cam seal leak and a transmission leak repaired (both very expensive repairs). Other than that, just the usual routine maintenance and known repairs (exhaust flex pipe, cracked exhaust header). Engine and transmission are OK at present (touch wood). I have a noisy HVAC mode servo but I'll leave it until it fails.

1999 RX300 over 428,000
No major engine repairs. I have had some repair shops create more problems when they were doing simple work. I need to disable the knock sensor, if it will still run, without taking off the intake. Any suggestions?

2001 FWD RX 300 previously driven by my wife which we passed on to our daughter. It has 148,000 miles and is going strong. It's had some of the usual repairs, a/c servo doors, power antenna replaced, and a noisy valve had to be adjusted at about 78,000 miles. Transmission fluid changed/flushed at 120,000 miles. It's had all the major services without fail as well as 5-7K mile oil changes with synthetic oil. Had to get a new key shell which we had cut and the electronic bits put into it most recently for $50.00.

warranty :)
I purchased my 99 rx 300 in nov of 2011 with 170,000 miles . After a few months noticed it would shift into overdrive sonetime and sometime it wouldnt. Long story short it wss knock sensor. I purchased a extended warranty from warranty direct bumper to bumper. 126 a month for 18 mo. Anyway to replace my knock sensors it was 790 to replace both and this company paid the whole thing.I have a zero deductible. I just wanted to share this with everyone..So far a good company im covered 100,000 miles or 5 years.

3 Months after I bought my RX, the engine blew... one of the Con Rod Bearings disintegrated sending metal throughout the engine... I couldn't find anyone to do the work... Finally my Father-in-Law "hooked me up" with one of his buddies in the industry, someone who would do the work well AND deal with Penn Warranty Corp.
Little did I know, the guy was working out of his garage... Long story short, it was 4 months until I got my car back, with a completely torn apart, cleaned and rebuilt engine, 2 F'd up Oil pan bolts, grey gasket maker crap smeared everywhere, and me extremely nervous about driving the car...
Penn only paid $2000 of the $4000+ repair, and fought him on it...
I paid $1989.00 for the Policy, so I am ahead of the curve with it, and I still have the policy, so I can't say it's ALL bad, but I do all my own work now... Unless of course something drastic like Tranny problems occur I will keep doing this, because I trust MY work... I worked on Ducati, Triumph, Moto Guzzi, BMW and all the Jap Bikes for years... Hell! If I had a complete factory service manual, I'd have done the engine, too!
Oh well! Take my advice guys...Do your own work.... You can't trust anyone better than yourself!
