Default My car won't lock.

I have a 1999 Lexus RX300. For some reason my car won't lock anymore. The only way I can get my car to lock is if I stick the key in the keyhole and turn it. But if I try to press the lock button on the key, it doesn't do anything. The unlock button on the key works fine. The alarm button won't work either. Also if I try to lock the car with the buttons on the driver or the passenger side, it automatically unlocks. It was working this morning. It stopped working after I left one of the door open and accidentally pressed lock on my key. It made a loud continuous beep and so I pressed unlock to make it stop. But I kept the door open. Now it won't lock from the key anymore and if I leave the door open and try to lock, it won't make the continuous beep sound either.

I would start with disconnecting the battery to reboot and see what happens. Almost sounds like it thinks that the door is still open.

I would say you have a bad lock solenoid....If the solenoid doesnt actuate then the sensor for the alarm wont work. read this thread

Does the door lock if you press the button on the driver's side door panel to lock all the door's in the car?

I had a similar problem in my car. I let the problem slide for about a year or so (lazy) until one day I left the light on in my car over the weekend and completely drained my battery. When I took my battery to AutoZone to have it charged, I replace my key fob battery at the same time (thought I should go ahead and do since it's been a few years). After that it start working fine. So, the problem could have been fixed by either the car not having power for an extended amount of time (2-3 days), or a new key fob battery.
