Smile Next project for install rear view mirror/display and backup camera

My 2000 RX 300 has stock rear view mirror no auto dim or compass. I ordered boyo vtl # 402 backup camera from sonic.com. Now thinking to buy rear view mirror/display. My consideration for Gentex HD rearview mirror model GENK 332 . I will post future updates when done. If any member done this please let me know. Thanks.

I have never done specifically that but did install an aftermarket back up camera on my '04 F-150 pick up. Had a nice camera but the inside monitor was too small at about 3 1/2 in. That wasn't large enough to see much behind you unless it was directly behind you. I eventually ditched it and bought a new set-up with a 7 in. flat screen monitor and built that into the drivers visor, visible when the visor is flipped down. I absolutely love it. Plenty large enough to be of some value. I wonder if the mirror/ display wouldn't have the same problem, of being too small.

Neither one were the mirror/ monotor type. Both were monitor mounted in a bracket. I didn't want the large 7 in. monitor out on the dash so I cut a recess in the back of the sun visor (the visor is about 3/4 to 1 in. thick) and mounted it in there. I'm used to doing custom work so it was a natural. It looks like it was factory installed that way. I love it because it's large enough to really give you a good view behind which the 3 1/2 in. didn't. It also came with 2 nice straps to Velcro strap it to the visor but I decided I wanted it built in instead.

my boss has one simular to that you can see whats behind you easily no need for 7 inch display. his has green lines to help align up to lets say a trailer hitch. this was on a new ford deisel truck and he limo tinted all his windows couldnt see out so came in handy. i personally dont see sence in spending money on accessory like that can just turn and look haha but thats just me was neat cant see screen while not in reverse go for it
