Today I tried to put a new front plate on the lexus. Well I guess the screwws had not been removed since 1999 because they would not budge. After alot of liquid wrench and wd 40 and no luck i decided to drill them out. Well The heads snapped off and the threads are still there for the most part and again, they will not budge and I can not drill them out now. So what I need to know is how to get the license plate holder out from behind the bumper. I can push the screw stubs in behind the bumper but I cant get my hand in there to pull anything out. I guess I need to know what my options may be. Do I need to remove the bumper cover or do I have other options. If anyone has any suggestions at all I am open to them. My GF is not real happy with me right now.

Same thing happened to me on my 1999. Remove the front bumper skin, which is not difficult. I recall (its been a few years) that the captive nuts are held on the backside of the bumper skin. Those parts are available from the dealer. Problem solved.

That's what I was thinking. Any ideas where I may find out how to remove the skin? I read somewhere that there is a clip that is a nightmare to remove.

There does not appear to be a DIY on the sticky list at the beginning of this forum. However, I do not recall anything particularly difficult when I did mine.
