Too high. I could put in brand new piping at an exhaust shop for less.

Price is one issue and the other is age and rust. If the engine has been running rich the cat parts may be used up internally. Short runs by the original owner may have rusted the system from inside out.

When I was looking for the first cat, I did not find one readily ( I did not look hard enough). I have heard the cat has intrinsic value. May be some one can tell us what that is and then you can make a reasonable offer. Without this information all you can compare with is the cost of new one.

That catalytic converter has some precious metals in it, platinum being the most common one used.

That sets the minimum bar for the seller to be 160 or so [I dont think the senors are worth much].

Now the next question ... for the buyer is that he can sell his old at junk price of $160. So how much is the used system worth to him (as compared to new and new-non-oem). My thought process should place the value of the old system to the buyer would be around $320 with the knowledge that he will get $160 back. <this is based on the rough rule of 1/2s and doubles>

There are two other fact that we have not considered.

Fair market value of the used system. [no data]

The real sale happens when both parties agree. Seller's expectation is 650 and the start point for the buyer is 320. [by luck it seems the rule of doubles and halves seem to fit ,,, 2x320 =640]. I am leaning to final sale of 450-480. BUT check the price of the after market pieces you need out of the system.

Bigger picture: Keep in mind you have to spend more money in having it installed and have no warranty. Based on what you really need out of the system you may be able to part it out. The flex coupling as a piece is welded but if you cut it 2-3" beyond, it might be salvageable. Check with the shop.

I have been looking to for the 1st cat WU ... between header and the flex pipe (Qty 1). 17400

amblyn seems to be looking for the main cat. After the "Y" and before the resonator.

#9 has the diagram
