Strange 01 Rx 300 audio sound issue when closing glovebox?
Yea, I thought my mind had finally went. But, it's true my audio volume output/quality was affected when I shut ( slightly slammed) my glove-box.
To be certain, I tried different iPods ( via cassette adapter) , Same results.
For some reason, when I slammed it shut again the sound came back a little and shut again and its back to 90%.
Again, this has only been tested via the cassette adapter (two of em) same results. Will test the FM quality and re-check CD's.
Any ideas?
Its almost as if the wattage changed.

The aux-in setup you have is not a factory solution. Your system has been rewired. Radio input is most likely the closest to factory wiring and that is why gazi is suggesting to set the source as radio. If his hunch is right then no matter how hard or soft you close the glove compartment, it should not impact audio sound level.
Please search on aux-in and double check the connections and wires that run near the glove box.

I think he has indicated that the RX300 audio system is stock, and that the iPod input is via a cassette deck pickup. I missed that too on the first reading.
My first thought is that the vibration is having an effect on the cassette deck pickup. Even if it occurs on two different cassette deck pickups, it could still be the problem.

Check the cassete player for the Ipod.. I found that some are better than others... and also check to see if any dolby settings are on... those can affect the play with the cassete adapters... and the other thing that I've encountered on my Prelude is a loose wire/connection that was a soudering problem and the connection not fully contacting and banging the console would 'jostle' something.
I don't know enough about the Lexus electronics/wiring but know that might be something to look at if it continues.

Was never a big fan of cassette adapters. If it doesn't do it on CD or radio, it's probably the adapter. If it does it on all sources, it could be a connector or a dry solder joint in the radio.
