I am seriously thinking about getting my front end painted because of the 100 or so paint chips. the place I went to for the estimate said it would be 690$, but it would look like mint, they do not tape anything, everything removed and they will also blend into the fenders for a perfect match, they said you would not be able to tell from any angle. We havehad work done there before and they are great. Is it worth doing? is it just going to chip us again? He said the clearcoat would be thicker than factory and that woudl help some, but it is still Lexus paint, I really hate all those chips, anyone else do this???? the guy who had it before me did alot of highway driving, I do not. I live in the country, so I hope I can keep the chipping down some.

I had the lower part of my RX repainted black to match the rest of my vehicle. It cost me $400 total. They used DuPont paint and I can tell you no more paint chips. I used to have the problem on the rear bumper.

I had a friend who did it with Lexus paint following a fender bender, and it has worked out for 1.5 years without chips. My RX is black so DuPont was not a bad option for me. However, definitely for getting the right match with any other color. It is interesting that black RXs are the only color not clearcoated from the factory.
