A/C temperature **** doesn't react

When i try to adjust the temperature, it doesn't always react when i turn the ****. Will spraying contact cleaner into the **** help?

I have the same problem with the fan speed ****. It is driving me nuts! I usually just leave it on one speed and adjust the temperature accordingly. Let me know if you figure out a way to fix it.
