I've checked my Nav version. It was 2001 version 1, came w/ 02 RX. I'm seeing 2002 v1 update in this forum.

Is there differences between the two? Am I eligible for free update, covered by warranty?

We bought a 2002 RX300 Friday with the 2001 Nav version. The sales rep said that the new version of the Nav included changes only for Detroit, Boston (?) and the Rocky Mountains, and I should save my money (not get it). That was in Dallas.

I live in Austin so called the local dealer today. He's ordering a new one for me, but agreed my just-bought-Friday RX300 should have had the latest version installed. He'll let me know when it comes in if I'm going to have to pay for it (which I would rather not do, all things considered).

Those of you who have the new version, have you found changes outside the three areas mentioned above?

if u have warranty. it shoudl b free i think. i think they upgraded more than the 3 areas u mentioned. not quite sure.

The Sewell Lexus (Dallas) site under products for sale lists 25+ areas that were updated on the 2002 version. I'm waiting to hear from the Austin dealer what they will do. But, I definitely agree, it should have been installed before they sold the car.

I'll call the dealer tomorrow and ask for the free replacement. They said 2001 v1 is the newest and they're expecting the next DVD update will be 2004.. I guess it was wrong info.

btw, does Lexus update the Nav DVD each and every year?
