I have a 99 and lately it has been blowing out cool air, sometimes when the outside air is about the same temp as I have it set for ( outside air 72 / air set to 72 ) but lately it has been 95 outside and air is blowing cool, not cold sometimes, but works good sometimes... compressor is cycling good,,, could it be something in controls such as electronics or vacuum doors ???looking for a place to start

Please read up (search) air-mix-servo and if applicable air mode-servo.

thanks, took the glove box and everything else off and greased the rods,,, seems to be working fine for now... is there a piece that the compartment filter slides into or does a filter just slide in ? All I have is an empty space there, no filter or holder

the "empty cabin air filter space problem." i bought my '99 used and found the empty space problem. someone tried to just set the filter in there, and then closed the access space with duct tape. bubba, bubba, when will you learn. it is solved by purchasing 2 plastic pieces; total cost less than $25 from my lexus dealer. the large flat piece is the tray that the filter element is tucked into. this slides into the space, filter on top. the second is the rectangular solid plastic piece. this seals the space. it just pushes in and snaps into place. be sure that the up and down tabs are facing the seats, not the engine [ie the foam rubber seal faces the engine]. note-i bought the filter element on e-bay for about $18 less than from my dealer.
