New 99 RX300
Hi all! I bought my White 99 last friday. Ive been reading alot in here. I used to be a Honda tech. I like the looks of this old schooler much better than the older CRV's. I found a great deal on this and drove her 100 miles home and parked it til i can go over and under it. Beautiful condition. 125k miles with lots of service records over the years. New tires, battery etc... for only $5600. Trans as smooth as butter. I noticed an oil leak from the front of the motor but havent had time to look yet. Probably a valve cover gasket. Im surprised that this forum is a bit slow on activity as I thought these RXs are very sweet rides but oh well.

welcome aboard, lots of good info on this forum....use the search mode and you will see lots of info to anything you come up with...Some on here have way over 200k on their RX300's....Sometimes those oil leaks on front right are from sloppy fill jobs of motor oil....maybe clean first and see if it reappears.

Welcome. I agree the RX is a very sweet ride, I love mine and don't have any plans to get rid of it anytime soon. I'm shooting to get 400k miles out of it. lol, I think it'll do it!
I'd clean it first and see where it's coming from. If someone recently did an oil change, then there may still be some oil dripping down from where the oil filter is. Because some of the oil stays pooled up there by the motor mount.

Yea it is a definite oil leak there. I will find and fix it though no problem with that. I enjoy finding a ride that is in great overall condition and modding it to my taste then driving her a long time. I love the style of this ride. Look around, you wont find anything better for similar money IMO. Especially for a smaller crossover/SUV type ride.

Hi Bobster, nice new car! I hate you though, my 01 had 167k on it and old tires, and I bought it for more
Anyway, sounds like you will have a great time with it.
On mine the transmission fluid was in horrible shape, check yours. A/T cooler lines are all corroded on mine as well but I don't want to pay $80 apiece for the three of them, so I sprayed them with rust inhibitor for now.
I think that the 1MZ-FE is freewheeling engine, a great plus in my book (not sure if VVT affects that though, so not 100% sure). I replaced the timing belt and idlers on mine anyway, they were squeaky when I bought it.

Yea bro! Im looking forward to having time to start working on her. Ive got my speakers in also. Between the rain and me renovating my new residence I still have not done anything. Im hoping by the weekend I can install the speakers and service the tranny and check oil leak.
