Low Engine Ticking Noise
Hi, guys!! I'm new to this and like to ask for advice.
I have a '02 RX300 with 10,500 miles. I started to hear a low engine ticking noise around 9,600 miles. It started once the engine warms up and you can hear it if you roll up all the windows and keep the radio off. Otherwise, you won't hear it mostly due to other sound and noises. It sounds like a metal stick keeps ticking against another piece of metal. It becomes rather pronounced if you really pay attention to it. When I brought the car in for the 10k service, the dealer's mechanic just cannot duplicate the noise due to the surrounding noise level and suspects that the fuel injector is getting dirtier and suggest switching to higher octane gasoline of different brands. So far, I've changed to Chevron's and Union 76's higher octane gasoline but the noise is still there. Anyone has the same experience or recommendations?
