Any insight into what preceded the onset of the 1351 code?

Before chasing any error codes, the battery and charging system must be tested to be good.

Keep in mind the 1351 code has to do with ignition timing. Cam being off by a tooth, ignition retard/advance [knock sensor], cam sensor all play a part.

Thank you Salim for the reply. The alternator was just replaced. The battery is less then a year old however it is a cheap one. I am going to charge the battery to see if the lights change. I thought about the timing. I asked the mechanic and they insist the timing is correct however never saw them check it again. They just changed the alternator, timing belt and water pump. One pully does not sound right but the noise goes away after it has run for away. The mechanic stated it was the belt needing to expand more and some plate behind one of the pullies may need replaced which ticks me off because if that was the case why wouldn't they have called and said hey this plate needs replaced while we are changing the belt etc.. I was going to replace the knock sensors in the rear but do not have the tools and am not comfortable doing that job and the price was over $1000. I did correctly complete the knock sensor 2 hack with success. Are one of those two knock sensors which are expensive to replace the ignition retard/advance knock sensor?

Thank you for the help.

I would suggest that have the mechanic confirm cam2 timing.
