Default Old guy, new RX300 owner

Sold my Excursion/Travel Trailer combo early this year and drove my buddies 01 RX300 while he was out of town. Liked it so much I just went out and got myself a 2000.....114K miles, $8500. Body pristine, new BFG Long Trails, new brakes, timing belt/water pump etc renewed at 90K miles. Must have been Karma, as I looked up the official color when I drove it home and it is Woodland Pearl -green. (We live in Woodland). So far, all is sweet, everything seems to work except the antenna does not retract/extend automatically, though it can be done so manually. Not sure how much of a fix this is. Other item is key fob. Only one and I can't have that. Any thoughts on the easiest way to correct these? Understand the keys can be costly. Thanks for any help you can throw my way. Oh yeah, I drive this around mountain roads beyond the end of the pavement and it seems to take the snow right in stride.

Welcome to Club Lexus!

Congrats on the purchase, where are the pictures? lol

There is a DIY on here for the antenna mast. You can find all RX300 DIY's on this page: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...300-diys.htmll
It's the first sticky on the First Gen Page.

You can purchase a key fob from ebay for $80, or buy it from Sewell for around I believe $140.

Benefit of buying from Sewell is they can cut the key for you. Whilst the ebay seller can't you will have to get it cut elsewhere. And, since this is a sidewinder key, not a lot of places can cut it except your dealer and maybe a locksmith. My dealer charged me $30 once, and he once charged me $20 to get the key cut. So it was cheaper to go with eBay for me.

You can then program the key(s) yourself.

Ramblemutt, are you still out there? We're over in Napa Valley. Searching for a good used RX. It'll go off pavement for sure

Another old guy I bought a 2001 RX300 4 years ago had the trans rebuilt at 155,000 and replaced all the items that go with the timing belt all new shocks KYB including tower struts.
Added tranny cooler and using Valvoline Max Life synthetic trans fluid doing drop and fill at 25,000 miles, Switched the engine oil to Mobil One annual at 140,000 miles no oil burning
Added LED tail light bulbs including the backup lights they are extremely bright got them at DDM Tuning Huntington Beach CA using Cree bulbs. Have HID head lights and yellow HID fog lights.
The clock has 186,000 miles plan to drive it to about 250,000 or so this RX runs and drives like a new car, I wax it every 4 -5 months using Maguire's polymer wax it keeps the paint looking new.
I met a lady in 2017 who traded her 2000 RX with 490,000 original miles with the original trans and motor she was in sales just goes to show you how well built the RX 300's are.
