Default Thinking about a RX300 for the SO

The SO needs a small SUV for work. I was wondering if you guys can give me any advice, like what to look for or to stay away from. We found a 2000 RX300 AWD with 105k on it and the seller is asking $5,500. Thanks for the help CL

To me, $5500 for a vehicle with a little over $100k seems like a good price.

Be prepared to spend some $ for maintenance work that may not have been done.

See post #10 in this thread for some things to look out for:

Good luck - and let us know what you decide. :-)

I agree, $5500 is a good price!

Has the timing belt been done?

Looks really clean - Great price too. I would just check to see of there is any service history.

Yeah, and check it before the purchase. I would offer them $5200.00

I got back with the seller just now and I think its sold/pending I told the SO its a good deal and that we should jump on it but the SO was like "lets wait until next week, it should still be here". Oh well the search goes on.

This one is from the Lexus dealer. Its a 1999 FWD with 123k. Has a small dent on the driver side. They are asking $5,900. I offer $3k on eBay.

Unless you get the 99' RX posted above for dirt cheap, I wouldn't buy it. Doesn't look like it's been taken care. Stay away from it. The owner may have been lacking behind on maintenance as well by the looks of it.

When I ran the VIN on the Lexus owner site it showed that 12/2007 was the last time it was worked on by the Lexus dealer. They have it listed on eBay and I offer $3k for it yesterday. Still waiting for a reply tho.

Usually when a car looks like that one, the maintenance was zero to little as well. As other poster mentioned above
