Default 99 wiring backup camera

when I'm wiring the backup camera in my 99. The instructions say to tap the reverse lights for power. Has anyone done this, and will it effect my bulb out light on my dash?
I have everything else ready to go just need to get power to camera while in reverse..

Cheers

Did you Tap both power and ground off the reverse lights?

Also trying to decide if I should use the add a circuit fuse tap to power the rearview monitor, or run a fresh from the battery line....

I tapped the power and grounded it to a nearby bolt.
I tapped power in probably the worst was possible, tapped into a fuse. I'm not good with electricals, so when you wire yours, let me know. I should probably change mine.

Im planning to tap power at the reverse lights and either tap the ground on the same light if possible, or find ground in the hatch somewhere..... the power for my reverse monitor i decided to use an add a circuit fuse tap, for just the monitor, i also wired it up to a 12V lighted rocker switch so i can turn it off if need be.... i thought about running a dedicated power from my battery, but im not versed enough yet in how to install some sort of relay to make it go off with the key, so i didnt drain out my battery.... i still have the harness, i may look at installing a power invertor to the rear seats with a line from the battery so it will run with key off, but im still worried my stoner *** will forget to turn the switch off and leave myself stranded just because the kid wanted to play wii in the back seat.

I used something that looks similar to this ebay item, i bought it at princess auto in canada here for $8.99 plus i had to buy fuses seperate, its rated for 10A which should give me a max 120W i believe, so thats more then enough draw for this small monitor... i dont see any issues but ill let you know.
