Michelin Tires

Cross-Terrains are better if you want to do more highway driving than off-roading, compared to the LTXs. Also, the LTXs are based on an older design and technology. I generally see LTXs on vehicles much bigger than the RX. They are very popular here in Mexico, unlike the Cross Terrains, given the bad streets that lead to 'mandatory' off roading.

Thanks for your comments. It's always much better to find out the real-world differences between the two tires. The Michelin web site is not helpful in that regard. For instance I didn't realize that the Cross Terrains are a newer design.

Michelins @ TireRack
The local Costco quotes $130 for the 235s, while TireRack has them for $85. Even with shipping the cost for 5 tires shipped is $480, and Costco would mount them for $9 each ie, $45 for all 5 wheels. I am looking at a total of $525 installed.
According to their (Costco) compatibility guide (some Bridgestone software) they said I could also upsize to 235 or 255/65 but the guy said the 255 would rub while turning because of the width. I am gonna try another Costco to see if they will install the 255s for me. Unfortunately the 245 is not an option
It seems Costco is going to have a similar promotion like earlier in Jan again but TireRack's price is too tempting. I will go to the local Discount Tire and see if they will trade in my old tires AND pricematch.

I can't find those prices anywhere???
Maybe there was a sale or promotion that ended already.
Everywhere I look has the Michelin cross-terrains for about $130.
If someone knows where there is a good sale now please respond. Onlinetire.com appears to be offline.

I got a coupon from Costco the other day. Set of 4 Michelin or Bridgestones--$60.off (1/20 through 2/2). I got $60 off during a previous sale and paid $492. for 4 Michelin CTs (mounted, balanced, valves, lifetime rotation and flat repair).

I've been buying the LTXs for my pick ups since the late 80's or so. The CT came out about 2-3 years ago and I have then on two Grand Cherokees and they'll prob go on my 2003 RX when tires are needed. When they came out Michelin made a lot of hoopla about them. That they were designed for SUV use, vice truck use.
I sem to remember the tread wear number was a little less for the CTs compared to LTX for same size.
