Default Exhaust Leak

Hey guys, so I've had a slight exhaust leak for a few months now. I originally thought it was the flex pipe but it seems like it may be from a gasket. The flex pipe doesn't sound like it's leaking.

I've attached a picture of what I think is the leaking connection. Does that gasket look bad? I took a flat screwdriver to the exposed part just to get a feel for what it is, and it seems to break off easily.

Should I replace that gasket? I will definitely need new spring + bolts if I go to replace that, as the current bolts are rusted.

Is it possible to pick these parts up at Advanced Auto Parts or such, I dont' want to order from Sewell as their shipping charges are unreasonable.

Thanks! I appreciate it!

Here is a way to confirm your speculation. Prepare a soapy mix in a spray bottle. With everything cold, start the engine and spray away on/around suspect area. If needed ask an assistant to briefly put a rag on the exhaust outlet (to increase the back-pressure) ... dont do it for long.. just momentarily.

As you disconnect, remember to do both sides evenly and work with the more difficult one first. You may have to saw off the bolts. During reassembly make sure you can move one side to create the needed room to insert the gasket. Last time the dealership worked on my flex pipe they pushed in the section that goes in the heat-up catalytic converter ... they should have loosened the other flange (2nd leg of the y) to push back the whole exhaust. That is why I work on my cars myself.

I would say only buy OEM. Do it once and change all replaceable parts. Try you local parts for comparison.

Thanks Salim! I will go ahead and double check the leak with the soap method you described above.

I'm going to wait to do the gasket. I will order the OEM gasket in a few months (probably around June), when i plan do to my front struts. As I'll be buying OEM strut mounts and can purchase the gasket at the same time.

Does anyone know the part number for that gasket and bolts?

I believe the gasket is either 9091706046 or 9091706078. < Does anyone know which one it is?

I haven't been able to find the part number for the bolts and springs, the diagram on Sewell isn't making much sense to me. Maybe someone can help me out.

EDIT:
According to this :http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/more...934&cc=1363586
The 35129 bolt kit and 31555 gasket should work. But, I rather buy OEM if I knew the part numbers.

I see multiple (2) parts are listed.

You need to send your VIN to Sewel or even call your local Lexus parts to find out which is the right part for you. I am guessing the difference is in length based on different length of the stud used (my guess).

Once it took days for Sewel to respond my email and then once they responded within hours.
