Good day to all members,
I spent last month over internet with one question what car should i get with budget $5-6K
I want to go with SUV. Used to drive 98 camry and now have few months left on accord lease. Changes in my financial world made my budget in 5-6 grand to avoid full insurance.
My first two options were RX or MDX, but both of them has problems with tranny. I think that if lexus has only problem with tranny, I will take cheapest option 2wd with about 200k and IF something will go wrong I will replace transmission. (or if I can find one with replaced tranny) But if it made already 200k it should be fine, no? What should I look for to get better one 99 or 2001 AWD or 2WD?
If I get car for 5000 and tranny will cost me another 5k, maybe it is better to get 2004 RX330 for 10000?

Welcome to Club Lexus!
Please search as this has been discussed a lot.
But, in short, the transmission problem isn't as bad as perceived, a lot of it is internet amplification. Do a drain and fill every 15k miles, and it should be fine.
