with my '99 AWD i get only 235 per fillup. I also have the smaller 17.x tank.
it really sucks. even with highway miles only i can just slightly get to 300 without freaking that ill run out of gas before the next station.
i need a bigger tank!

i drive fast in the city i realistically get 14-16 mpg, on the highway doing 90mph with cruise set about 18 your luckier than me, but i do have a completely brand new motor, probably still breaking in a little

Here in Mexico City, I average between 13.8 and 15.5 for my daily drive to the office. Out on the higway I am getting about 22.5 mpg. I am about 8,000 feet up in elevation here.
One thing that has improved my MPG is making sure that the air manifold is securely tight, and that no air can leak, all must go through my K&N filter. I know someone who has a Toyota Harrier here, and he suffered that problem, and kept blaming Pemex gas, when in reality he never took good care of the car.

We have a 2001 RX300-AWD with 20,000 miles (purchased new).
We average 16.9 mpg mixed rural/highway (25%/75%) driving. Strict highway we get about 21.5. We're using regular gas (87 Octane) as indicated in our manual. However, we've complained to the Lexus service manager three times about the 16.9 mpg in mixed driving (we expected at least 18 mpg)....he suggested that we try a higher octane fuel. Last Saturday we filled up with the middle range gas (as he suggested) and we'll be tracking the fuel economy. Stay tuned for addtional info.

2000 RX, AWD, Michelin LTX, 44000 miles, owned for 2 months. Our best ever mileage was 22, (at 70mph, 4-lane highway, cruise control), we usually get about 19-20. Striclty city driving, we average 13-15 at best, and that is being VERY gentle on the throttle. The tank I am burning right now I am averaging 10.8. And the price of gas went up to the equivalent of US$2.06/gal last night.
but at least I don't own a Yukon!

My 2001 AWD is averaging 19.7 using 87 octane. Driving mix is about 10% city, 80% rural, 10% highway. I find the RX is geared low compared to other vehicles which really kills highway mileage at higher speeds.
I would be very suprised if higher octane provided better gas mileage. This has been tested and discussed to death here before.

So it's not just me then, although I have exhaust which shouldn't hinder gas mileage, I am not getting the best fuel economy considering this is a six. For comparison, I had an "03" Eddie Bauer Expedition while my RX was incapacitated for minor cosmetic treatment.
Anyway the Expo was better on gas than my RX in mixed driving -city and highway. I don't know the tank capacity of the Expedition but I would think it's larger than 19 gallons.
First off gas here for regular 87 octane averages about $1.45 give or take a few pennies here and there. I ran the car to almost empty (bottom line on fuel guage without the low fuel light on) put 10 bucks in the tank and it registered half full. For comparison if I put 10 bucks in the RX without it being completely empty, I will not get a half of tank (slightly below). Put in $20.00 in the Expo from almost empty - a little more than 3/4 will register on the gas guage - drive around most of the day heavy on the gas or whatever and still have half a tank left. Half a tank in the RX will not last much of my 55 mile commute not to mention a day with a lot of city driving. BTW: I normally use 93 octane in the RX, but I ran regular the other day (for the first time) to compare.
I'm not a Ford person per say but I have to say I was rather impressed that such a large 8cyl. vehicle like the Expedition seemingly betters my 3.0 ltr V6.

Hey everyone...I'm new to this forum. I'm originally from www.ubrf.org. Anyway, how can you call 250mpg low??? I'm getting only about 200mpg city driving (Usually 210most)!!! Maybe I'm stepping on the gas too much. How do you people drive and at what rpm do you guys shift at?
