I have run PP 5W-30 in my 2000 RX300 for almost 2 years. The last change, I tried 5w-20 after reading things on this site. Suddenly, I've developed a slight weep from the front valve cover-near the timing cover. I am going to switch back to 5w-30 this weekend, but given the fact that the vehicle has 143K, could it just be coincidental? Logic dictates that thinner oil, could, in theory, cause the leak, but the oil isn't THAT much thinner, IMO.

Switch back, but you still may have to change the front valve cover gasket.

It's a coincidence.

Valve cover gaskets leaking are inevitable, change the gaskets and keep running the 20 weight if you so desire.

I'm running 0W-20 QSUD right now, with no issues. But, I replaced my valve cover gaskets last year.
