Personally, I have issue with the hardness/softness of the bolt-head/nut. Even with the 'right size' socket, if the ratchet has a slight tilt, it messes up the corners. I am slowly building my 6pt socket set.

Incidentally, service manual always show a "T" shaped tool [ratchet is a side ways "L"]. The "T" shaped tool would sit straight. Any one used it or seen it being sold?

Harbor Freight!! They have a set that's quite cheap, but quite hard.. Not a bad buy! Not Snap-On quality, but nearly as hard a steel, and priced that you can buy 5 sets for 1 Sanp-On set..

My next try is the torx hammered into the head. Incidentally, I went to HarborFreight on Sunday and picked up an inexpensive bolt extractor set. The drill bits that come with that set are not particularly good, I have already broken one. This particular bolt is hard!

Give us an update. Is it finally out?

Here's another extraction tool that might work.

5 Piece Pipe Nipple Extractor Set on eBay!
I have a set of those and they are the best extractors I've ever had, though I still think the "Torx" pounded into the hole would be the best bet, as long as it is a good tight fit.

Well, I finally got the bolt out. Problem I was having was in drilling the pilot hole for the extractor. The drill bit that came with the Harbor Freight extractor set was of poor quality. I bought a high-quality bit (Rigid), hammered in the extractor, applied a long-handled wrench, and voila!

Good luck Jab. I have to replace my Rx's valve gaskets (both) also. Here is another tool : http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Alden-8440P-Pro-Grabit-Broken-Bolt-and-Damaged-Screw-Extractor-4-Piece-Kit-/370792684017?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5654f759f1

Jab, How was the rear valve cover diy? Any important notes you recall? Thanks.
