Default RX300 with Nav System does have telephone mute input in trunk (just installed Nokia)

Someone asked me whether or not the RX300 has telephone mute input. I can confirm that it does, at least in my '01 RX300 with navigation system and standard(non-Nakamichi) stereo.

I just finished installing a Nokia full car kit. I connected the kit's mute wire to the RX300's telephone mute wire. When making/receiving a call on my Nokia 6310i GSM1900(T-Mobile) phone, the audio from the stereo(radio/CD/tape/nav guidance) is muted. As soon as the call ends, the audio comes back immediately.

The wire's color is purple. It is located on an unused connector near the navigation DVD-ROM player. There are two connectors tapes together there. They are intended for the Lexus mobile phone. Using a Lexus service manual, I identified the wire quite easily.

Hope this info is useful for anyone installing a mobile phone car kit with mute wire...

Hi,
Where is the DVD rom? I wanna take a look because I'm having problems with the Nav system. I just went to a wedding and the destination "does not exist"!!!

It's in the trunk, next to the jack. Take the jack out and it's the
black box that looks like the CD changer. There's an eject button
that will pop the DVD out.

However, I don't think destination "does not exist" is a malfunction.
(perhaps the address simply isn't included in the DVD... in which
case, ask your friendly dealer to replace it with the most current
DVD... unless it already is the most current one)

Thanks,
I just came back from the dealer for that problem. They couldn't replace my DVD because California didn't have any different maps so some area "doesn't exist". Thanks.

Just curious, did you install a handsfree kit that has a mute wire?

What version of DVD do you have? What's the name of the
city/street name that you couldn't find? I also want to try it on
my other car's nav system to see if they have it.(a MB)

Yes, I installed Nokia's full car kit for my Nokia 6310i GSM phone.
It has a mute wire and I hooked it up to my '01 RX300's factory
stereo system. (using the factory pre-wired connector in the
trunk area for the Lexus phone) It works perfectly!

Hi Sleepy,
Thanks,
Here's the address: 2429 River Road
Modesto, Ca 95351

I have the 2000.1 version.

They won't swap DVD versions for me because California doesn't have any new roads.

Also, I had them try it on the new versions 2002.1 in a LS 430, which by the way CAN watch DVD in the front too!!!! and it's voice activated!!! Wow... , but no luck, "destination does not exist".

Does Mercedes Benz have different DVD based navigation?

I just punched the address you gave me into my '01 RX300's
navigation system. It does have that address. Below is a
quick photo showing the screen...

I had the DVD replaced by the dealer when the updated
DVD came out back in October.

The current version is v2002.01 Can't figure out why it didn't
work when you tried in on a LS430 with the same software
version...??? It coudl be possible that you entered "RIVER ROAD"
which came up with nothing... I entered "RIVER RD" and it workd fine.

Sleepy, you know what? River Rd does work. I did type in River Road. Man, do I feel embarassed. Should I still complain to Lexus about my navigation not working, in hopes of getting a new DVD?

I do that all the time. The people responsible for the software should made RD and ROAD interchangeable.

Can anyone tell me if a more recent Gen 4 dvd player work in a 2003 Rx300? (OEM Part No. 86841-50090, 462100-0604.)
