Default CEL mystery on my 2000 rx

Ever since I bought this guy (Nov 12) the CEL has come on about two days out of every 7 days. This equates to about 6-7 start-ups and between 150-200 miles. Had a code reader on it early on and it threw something like a solenoid relay on the transfer case (???). Unit runs very well...just came off a 2700 mile trip, averaged about 21.5 mpg without problems ... though the CEL did come on and go off as described above, right on time. Tranny seems fine..not too concerned, but wondering if anyone wants to give me something to worry about.

OK...CEL came on right on schedule last week and finally stayed on long enough fo get a code reader on it. And it is indeed the dreaded P0768 Shifter solenoid D code. The weird part of this whole issue is, as I mentioned, the CEL stays off for 4-5 days, then comes on 2-3 days. Usually goes off after 5-7 restarts. This time it was 6 restarts when it went off. Everything is shifting smoothly, no metal in tranny juice. Hoping it is just the solenoid or a connection thereto. Lexus tech website says odds about 7:1 it is the solenoid and not the tranny. I'm gonna let it go for the present and hope for the best unless someone out there has a better idea. May drop the pan and check out the solenoid next service.
