Seat belt problem
Anyone have experience changing the receiver piece on the driver side seat belt? It will catch if I fuss with it a bit, but sticks down inside most of the time....not good.

Found it...thanks. What your DIY post convinced me to do is take it in to an expert when the time comes. In the interim, I gave it a good shot of dry lubricant and it helped a great deal, tho I may have deactivated the seat belt alarm in the process. No harm....it works for me for the moment.........just like new (sort of).

Incidentally, both front seat belts need to be in good working order and are checked during annual road worthiness check. I am glad I changed mine before going in for inspection.

Those receivers get gunked up over time. cleaning would envolve some work....but the mechanism is probably just sticking from dirt and grime. I wont take any responsibility but taking it out and soaking in some cleaning solution might work, but it would have to be dried carefully afterwards.

When I took off mine, I did break into it. For me there was no junk in there and simply the mechanism (spring action of the red button) was worn down. The lock was still good.
After tearing it apart, I think a CC can be used to push the plastic sleeve lock and then the cover can be pushed down to expose the internals ... but there is limited room. To take the receiver out you have to take out the seat. When you are undertaking that work (although not too much), might as well replace the thing.
The down side is, the driver side is bright pink and the passenger side is faded-pink.

Lots of good advice...thanks. The dry lubricant I used seems to have solved the problem, at least temporarily. I worked it over extensively today and it worked smoothly every time. We have bi-annual inspections here...doubt this will be a problem. Thanks, folks.
