Question RX Trip Computer

I guess the only info that the RX trip computer can display
are the elapse time, mpg, avg mpg, avg mph. Is this true?

I guess it could not display info like the amount of gas left in
the tank, total range, etc.

It displays elapsed time, average mpg, current mpg, and average mph. It does not give you estimated mileage to empty.

Default Avg MPG?

Can anyone tell me how the Avg MPH is calculated? For example, over the last 10 miles, 100 miles, 15 minutes of driving, 60 minutes of driving. In other words, over what period is the calculation made and is it distance or time? ...or gallons for that much?

Thanks!

The average MPH calculates every X amount of minutes. I don't know the exact timeframe. However, it is constanly averaging in new MPH figures. That means, the longer you leave it without resetting it the more numbers are in the formula thus, the amount that the average changes per X amount of time will begin to diminish.

Thanks Lex. Makes sense! I suppose it is the same for the avg MPG calc. I'll play around a bit with it. Seemed to take a few minutes to calc the first number after reset. I'll time the first calc next time. Interesting it builds up the average from the last reset - as I gather from your post.

For avg MPG, I've been at 18.3 for the last few days of rural driving here in Mass.

Many thanks.

The manual says....."Press and hold the info button in until it resets to '00.0'

The Estimated Time and current MPG cannot be reset, but the others are reset by pushing the info button to toggle to the display that you need and hold the info button down and it will reset.

Default Disappointed

The trip computer was my biggest disappointment with the RX. We have a 1998 BMW 3-series convertible and love that trip computer. I use the miles-to-empty quite often .

I was just surprised that the Lexus trip computer is pretty basic and lacks a lot of the good info that I had gotten used to elsewhere.

Love the RX otherwise and this trip computer issue is minor stuff. Our favorite toy with our new RX so far is the Nav system!

Default I agree.

I agree with CHSMITHINS.
That was certainly a disappointment.
I guess i was used to our trip computer on our Mercedes S.
The other disappointment is that you cann't control the
radio/cd from the steering wheel.
Gee, how much extra $ would that cost.
I hate fumbling at those buttons when
i am driving (i am a bad enough driver already...).

Just hold the "INFO" buttom down for a few seconds, and it will reset to zero. Then press it again to index to the next parameter and you can reset it to zero the same way.
