Default whole car Vibrates when stopped

HEy Guys,

Funny thing I noticed last nite. When I was at a stop light, the whole car started to vibrate. WHen I put it in neutral, it went away and once I put it in drive (Still stopped) it came right back. Any ideas on what I should look for?

Thanks
Mike

your engine idle speed may be a bit low. If it happens again try pushing the gas pedal a little bit. I remember seeing a thread before about how this problem could be caused by a dirty intake valve or something, so might wanna get dealer to check it out.

O.K, try this first it's may sound crazy. Open the rear hatch and start the car up, put it in drive( car stopped, like at the stop light) and see the vibration go away. Or slightly open the rear hatch.
If the vibration go away with hatch opened, then go to the back of the RX and open the hatch. You will see black rubber stopper( on the body), one on each side with 2, 10 mm bolts holding it. Loose the bolts up on both sides and retighten them. Go back in the car and feel the vibration.

How in Gods sake can a driveability problem be the rear hatch???? Maybe you should suggest checking the spare tire pressure also.

Souded bizarre, but then there is some logic to it.

Back to the orignal problem of shaking ...
More info is required ... specially the idle speed ... did it fall below 500rpm?

Now back to the back panel ...
If the hatch is not seated snug it can vibrate and being a lrge panel, the harmonics can be severe. VVT-i taks about the stand-offs which produces point contact hold points or a firmer fit. Far fetched? yes but not impossible
