No Heat: How Do I Replace Air Mix Servo ?
I am not getting any heat in my Lexus 2001 RX 300 (just blows cold air) and have been hearing clicking noises coming from near the glovebox for some time. I don't think it's the thermostate as I've read other threads that talk about this clicking noise coming from the glovebox.
I tested the top server motor turning the key on and cycling through the modes using the mode button and the white crank seems to work correctly in all positions up and down. I actually watched a YouTube video to see one that was going bad, so pretty sure the upper one is working OK and directing air flow to the different areas of the SUV.
I believe I need to replace the lower air mix servo as there is NO heat, just cold air blowing.
Is this the best way to get the air mix servo top screw in back of the cooling/heating pipes off? Use a stubby Phillips bit and a 1/4 in. ratcheting box end wrench.
Once I get the 2 screws holding the lower air mix servo off and unlatch the wire connector, how do I take the air mix servo out and replace it? Because The air mix servo front is almost touching the cooling/heating pipes making it look impossible to slide out because the pipes are in the way. And once I get it out and replace it, how do I get the new one on? As again, the cooling/heating pipes are in the way.
If I can't do it, does anyone know how much it is to have a dealer replace it?
