Default Replacing RX300 check engine light bulb

I have a 2000 RX300. I recently had an issue with the how it was running, but the check engine light was not on. A computer scan showed failure codes that needed to be addressed. The check engine light does not come on, as it should, when the key is turned, so I assume that the bulb is burnt out. Looking under the instrument panel, getting to the bulb doesn't appear to be an easy task. If someone has replaced any of the warning light bulbs, I would appreciate any hints on how to get it done. Thanks.
