I've had the CEL on and solid for a few weeks now. The first time I had the codes read, they indicated an emissions issue; i.e. check Gas cap. Had cap replaced, but light is still on and the cap is hard to remove after getting the tank down to 1/4 full. I'm assuming it's the overflow / charcoal canister that's plugged. Is it a DIY project, or am I spending $$$$ to have a mechanic fix it?

Went to AutoZone this morning and here are the problem codes:
P0300-301-303-305: Misfires. Causing flashing light, probably.
P0171: Bank 1 Lean.
P0446
P1349
Any clues?

I did replace the fuel cap a month or so ago without a change in the light.
My VSC light isn't on, but I did order two VVT solenoids, after looking at a few of the other posts. They just arrived today, so I may try to install them tonight after work. Will have to clear out the garage and find my space heater to do it.

Installed the second one this morning because the car was nigh near impossible to drive (wouldn't shift to overdrive, started to downshift hesitate, etc.)
Worked like a charm. Engine light is out. Thanks to BearsLexus for his outstanding DIY.

The EVAP System is quite easy to work on, it just takes time.
This past summer, I was getting an EVAP Code for my '01 RX. After changing the gas cap, the code persisted. I ended up removing the 1/4 panel inner liner where the gas tank neck resides. There are two steel lines for vapors and overfilling. I spliced into them and replaced with rubber hose & clamas. And under the Canister Cover(behind the gas tank, there resides many lines(rubber) I found a rubber line that was split and replaced it too. All is GOOD NOW!
