Please HELP! Rx crank but won't start**SOLVED**2/11/2015
Hello,
Long time reader first time poster!
I have a 1999 Lexus RX300, second owner. I let my son use my precious RX for a couple of months when all of a sudden one day he called and said it stopped on him and would not start.
I am a DIY'er so I had my vehicle towed to my back yard (shade tree mechanic)!lol
After reading many days of posts on CL I haven't found a solution to fix my vehicle.
1. Spark is present
2. Fuel is not present
I have sprayed starter fluid into the throttle body and still no start.
I have removed the fuel pump an tested the 12v directly on my battery and the pump kicks on.
Timing belt is turning.
All fuses and relays have been checked and are good.
The battery is fully charged.
No codes because I messed up and disconnected the battery. I should have known better but it happened!
Please help! What should I do next? Lexus has 183,000 miles.
Solved on 2/11/2015
I installed a new Timing Belt! She fire right up...I hope this help someone who has the same symptoms.

Hello and thank you for responding.
I checked the line that go into the fuel injectors fuel rail and it was empty.
I don't have any fuel pressure tools.
The fuel pump had fuel in it but somehow the fuel is not getting to the engine.

Ok so if you pull that line off and try to start the engine and no fuel is present, then i would check for power to the fuel pump with the key in the "on" position or when starting. The power will only be at the pump for a second or two. If there is initial power at the pump, then your pump is bad. If there is no power for a second or two, then i would start looking upstream probably at the fuel pump relay.

I asked someone to listen back by the fuel pump when I turn the key on and they didn't hear anything. But when I take the fuel pump out and check it out on the battery the pump kicks on.

I am usually good at figuring this vehicle out, I mean I replaced my own knock sensors before...But this time I am lost.
Thank you so much for trying to help me.

Is the red security light blinking when the key is in the ignition? If it was a fuel pump the starter fluid should have make the engine at least hick up,so that's why I'm not thinking its fuel related. Let me know about that light.

The light stop blinking once the key is in the ignition.

Ok well that's a good thing. Look in the fuse box near the battery for a relay called "cp/o". Try swapping that relay with another one that's similar to it but doesn't control anything important such as a horn relay. If it still won't start pull a spark plug and see if it looks wet.

I will check the spark plugs in the morning and I will let you know. Thank you for helping.
