Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and would like some advice.
I purchased a used 2000 Lexus RX300 and, unfortunately, I don't have the Key Alarm FOB device to turn on the alarm on the car....I only have one key for both door & ignition.
My question is: If I purchase a universal key FOB, is it possible to program it to work with my Lexus RX300 and, if so, does anyone have instructions on how to do this?
I went to the Lexus dealer and they want $300 to provide an OEM FOB and program it to my car. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
Thank you in advance for your input

I think you need one good master key to program another one yourself. Others on this forum will be able to correct me if I'm wrong about that, but you may need to wind up at the dealer after all. Once you have one good master key, you can program a few more that you buy pre-cut. Another thought: Buy a master-type key cut to your code (online, probably $70-80), then go to the dealer and tell them the key came with the vehicle when you got it and the functions don't work, then ask how much they'll charge to program it for you. Good luck!

I got two or three on eBay at different times, but I can't remember the seller's names. ikeyless.com has some for about $104, but I'm sure I got mine for less. They can cut it using a photo of your key, then the dealer can program it for you. After you have that one master, you can program your own. I think the FCC ID# is the same for all RX300's, so it needs to match your remote. The number on my factory keys is N14TMTX-1.
