Considering getting a RX300
Hi, I am not normally in this forum I currently own a 1994 Turbo Lexus GS300 (which is for sale!!!) and want something I can drive year round. So I was looking at the RX300, Lincoln Navigator, and the Benz M and ML class. I am looking to do few mods because I just don't have the time or patience for it right now. All I am looking to do is (at least the major projects):
22" rims (what is the largest any of you have on your RX300, 20, 22, 24?)
Subs
How do you guys feel about the RX300 vs. other similar type models as I listed.
So far I am not all that impressed with the RX300, there seem to be very few even little mods to do, practically no one in the gallery has anything done to their car at all, not even rims. I am going to need some really good convincing that I should stick with Lexus...
Thanks!

No mods, no mas!
Welcome!
Fantom's right, the RX is the pick of those you listed. The Navigator is a typical Lincoln, overpriced for its content and will give you a beating on resale. My personal prejudice, after driving truck-based SUVs for years, is toward the crossover vehicles like the RX and the ML. The Navigator, Suburban, Durango, and to a large extent the Grand Cherokee among the domestics, as well as the Toyota/Lexus and Nissan/Infinity truck-based SUVs are at their core light-duty trucks. All the leather and chrome (and $$$) is like putting lipstick on a pig, it makes it look a lot better, but it's still a pig!
You have a wide selection among the new crossovers, depending on your proposed use. I selected the AWD RX for long-distance highway cruising, passenger comfort, moderate load-carrying ability (I upgraded to 235-70 series Michelin Cross Terrains), light off-road work, and around-town utility. YMMV.
While Lexus enjoys an excellent reputation for service, make sure that your local dealer treats you well. My own experience and that of others with our local MB dealers together ensure I won't be buying a Panzerwagen soon!
The RX doesn't adapt well to mods - other than cosmetic, since it is never going to be a real carver due to its high profile. It's not going to be a road rocket either - it's heavy. It could be a great basis for some audio toys though - you have plenty of room! Several folks on this board have had some interesting ideas, but there are probably better platforms for performance mods.
Good hunting!

Yikes!!
Now let's see if they can stuff the 12-cyl from the proposed LS 600 into it. Either a north-south orientation, or that's going to be a W-I-D-E RX!
A little competition for the Dodge Magnum SRT-8? Where is this taking us?

So what do they make as far as any type of mods for the car, comestic or other. What is the largest size rims you can fit? If you guys could post a list of any possible mods and pics of them if you have any that would be great. I really want to stick with Lexus, but only want to if I think I will be really happy with a RX300, like I said the only major mods I want to do is stereo and rims, but wouldn't mind doing other small mods.
