18" Wheels Debacle
Guys,
i'm struggling getting new wheels for my stock 2002 FWD.
We tried the SE A8, which tirerack says are good:

The tire rubs against the rear shock.
We also tried the Helo HE874:

Also rubs against the rear shock.
Can someone provide me with specific specs and recommend wheels that will mount fine?
I'm not looking to put any spacers or anything that will make it non-stock.
Please help!
Thanks

Carver, no, cause they bore me to death

Do any of you know of the specific specs I need to look @? apparently, even if a wheel says it's compatible, doesn't look like it is. What do you guys have on yours?
Thanks!

i'd suggest to go back to your install shop and ask the most knowledgeable installer about offsets. The wheels you picked and the OE 2nd gen wheel both have a +35 offset. You may need something larger than that or they might suggest spacers with extended lugs.

Car has 116k, i bought it 8 years ago with 68k, so no clue.
What you're asking makes sense, and I asked the installer if he sees something that might be non-stock done to the axle or something, he said it looks fine.
To me the car looks balanced, nothing pops up, but what do i know...
Is it possible cause mine is a FWD, while the AWD would have more space in the rears?

i would guess for a cheaper assembly parts bin, the awd and fwd would share the same struts but not necessarily the same mounts. I did notice on our 02 awd RX, the wheel gap increased significantly when i refreshed the suspension all the way around.
For no expense other than your time, you can borrow spring compressors at most autoparts stores and drop out one of your rear struts. If you can compress the strut without the spring easily with just your hands its worn out.
Anyways, if you do find out they are worn out, replace them all. It makes your ride that much more enjoyable like riding a brand new car and you can revisit the fitment of the 18's.

i have the second gen 18s on mine.. there is barely any space between the strut and tire.. I wanted to go up from 235 to 245 but would of needed a spacer on the backs at least to do so..
you have what at one point was considered a luxury car.. The stock second gen adds years to your cars looks and it subtle.. at the end of the day you will regret putting those cheap wheels on your car.. it will only look tacky.. IMO..
I paid 500 with tires from a junk yard, so its also more bang for your buck..
good luck on what ever you choose..

OEM 18" wheels
I have OEM 18" wheels , they fit perfectly no headache, no spacers, OEM wheels are the best , here is a link
