Default Exhaust

Hey guys, just wanted to get a idea or some inputs about straight piping the rx... would it sound like a Honda with a fart can or would it have a decent rumble? Also would the oxygen sensors get fussy over that? I wanted to try and get a dual exuast fitted on it as well, thanks again!

disconnect rear of the cat..it will give you somewhat an idea of what the exhaust pulse will sound like.

Its a v6 so it will have a completely different sound than a 4 cyl honda motor regardless of the setup you choose.

Loud. I did this once with the piping off from just before the main cat back. Sounds more like a 1950 Mercury all tricked out on the engine (take a look at the 1986 Sylvester Stallone film Cobra). Nice sound, but you don't want to drive it around like that.

However, if you were to add a straight pipe back from that point, it will get rasp/hissy (will sound awful), even if you do it after the cat. I did that for one day as an experiment and was back the next day putting a muffler on it (even though the muffler was direct flow).

Aw man.. would any Flowmaster product help or maybe add that other piece that connects to the pipes to help wash out the rasp/hiss? I just want a little rumble haha! Thanks for the reply!

Flowmaster might, but let me take it a step further. You can't have a glasspack or sausage type resonator after the main cat and then have a direct flow muffler on the end. That will have farts/rasps. Key is to have an oval muffler on the back and something either same size (direct flow) in place of resonator. Existing resonator after the cat is direct flow from the factory, but if you want some sound, consider putting an oval muffler under there that is about 3/4s to full size of an oval muffler on the back. You can even do a 1 in 2 out resonator and have two pipes like mine go into a two pipe in two pipe out muffler on the back and you will get good sound with out the rasp/fart. It will give some rumble there and and more punch on the acceleration.

Sweet, is that the setup on your rx? If so could you post up a video to youtube? I would like to get a idea of what it will sound like before I start investing in my exhaust thanks for the wonderful tips!
