Purchased March 2008 with 83k miles on odometer BUT...
I just recently figured out that any service done at Lexus is accessible to anyone who needs it and to my understanding it looks like the last service done to my RX was done there on February 2008 and shows mileage to have been 175k at that time...
I think I was too quick to purchase and was too blind to see this coming, if indeed the previous owner tampered with the odometer... This was a private sale...
Not sure what to expect from this from here on but it now has 105K miles on odometer and i have changed the engine oil at about 3k intervals since I purchased it... Flushed coolant... And was about to drop trans pan to flush fluid as a 100k preventive maintenance...
Should I be looking into anything else to prevent any further issues if it does indeed have false odometer reading...
Not sure if it is an issue if I provide the vin number here but if anyone who knows how to go over all the services done and can tell me if I have been screwed then please ask me for the vin...
I'm just wondering what maintenance is now missing if indeed the mileage is off by 100,000 miles... Can't believe I may have been mislead... If odometer was tampered with then it now has 205k miles
I remember changing the rear gear oil at about 90k miles and it was pitch black...
I just need to have it all ready for the winter as it is my favorite snow ride... My other 4x4 (F250) never rides during the salt season so need this one ti be dependable ...

Have you run a Carfax? Have you pulled all the information that Lexus has about your car? Don't jump to conclusions until you have collected all possible info. It is easy for errors to be made, so don't rely upon a single entry.

It may have been an error on Lexus' part. The local mechanic has my car's mileage listed as something totally different in their system - thankfully it's not reported to anyone.
Like the above posted said, is it one random 175k (like 68k to 175k) or was there a steady progression (150k, 160k, etc.).

I have looked over all the pages for services done and everything flows normally with the mileage and dates... There is no large jump on the mileage
According to that list this truck of mine had the trans replaced 6/22/2007 and the listed mileage at that time was 165,600 miles
Either the whole cluster was replaced or someone figured out how to rewind 100k off it...
I've owned it since March 2008 so can't do anything about it now but really need to know what maintenance is now needed There is no mention of timing belt so I now have to make it a priority even though it was going to get done soon anyway I have the new plugs laying around and now also need them installed as there is also no mention of them being replaced
I was just under the impression that the mileage was what my eyes saw on the odometer and now I'm not sure so I have to rush to get everything done beforewinter sets in... I will be doing all the work but it is all being done outside in the open

It's quite easy to fake the mileage. My cluster went out last month and I bought a '99 replacement from scrapyard. The mileage is stored in the circuit board in the cluster. You can swap in & out to get whatever mileage you want from that. Takes me 5 minutes to swap the cluster.

what was the milage on the title at the point of sale? Im pretty sure NJ requires that reported at title transfer. You can investigate any title re-issues with the state through the VIN. If the actual milage wasn't disclosed when you bought it, you definitely have a case you can file against the previous owner.
