How, precisely? The hold down is only torqued to 14 ft.lbs. There is no binding of the bushing. The sway bar easily rotates through the bushing.

It's been a while since this thread but I wanted to report back that the problem I have seems to be the strut mount, just as a Lexus dealership assessed.

Last weekend I replaced the sway bar end links. Neither had any extra play although on one of them, the rubber on one side was starting to crack/rip away. I replaced both and afterward drove it down the block, the thunking noise is still there when the car slightly dips up and down from the uneven road.

None of my friends really want to help me with compressing the springs and replacing the struts/strut mounts on each side so I will take it into a shop soon. (I will do the struts as well since they have never been replaced)

Any idea on the rough cost of replacing the front struts and strut mounts? I live in Norcal Sacramento area.

Its not a difficult DIY, just be sure to use OE mounts.

just a guess, they will probably charge about 4 hours labor..roughly 500 or so. dismount/ mount wheels, compressing springs, remove mounts, re-assemble struts.

Call around.
