1999 RX300 Subwoofer Install
Hi, I've installed a subwoofer in the trunk of my car and would like to finish my install. I've got everything wired up. All except the power wire. I'm running a pair of 12 inch Kicker Comp-R's that take 500 Watts rms and its powered by a Hifonics 1100 Watt amp. about 800 Watts RMS output at 2 ohms. Anyways that's not the important question. I got signal by taking the factory sub out and using the four leads (2x + and - for the dual voice coil stock sub) and using an LOC to get a low level RCA line. I got the remote turn on by tapping into the factory ACC lead for the stock head unit and i grounded the amp near the spare tire. But what i cannot do is figure out how to run the 8 AWG power wire from the battery to the sub. I found a grommet under the drivers side dash as well as a grommet behind the glove box. Both are really annoying to get to let alone pass a wire through but from the cabin its doable. But the problem is I just cant find where they lead to under the hood. I don't want to take apart anything regarding the engine if i don't absolutely have to. Does anybody know how to run a wire through the firewall the easiest way possible? as non invasive as possible too. basically everything's ready to go once I've got that annoying cable connected and ran through that damn firewall! Thanks ahead for any help!

There is rubber grommet with a pass through above the fuse box one by the driver left knee. The wire bundle goes out behind the left front wheel (all the way up) towards the battery.
It would be hard to run a wire there and I dont recommend drilling a hole through the fire wall.
The other option might be to run below the vehicle and enter from below by the spare wheel. Instead of rubber/plastic insulation, I would suggest Teflon sheathing. I would suggest that you add a fuse right after making the connection with the battery.
And welcome to CL
