Default in cabin hvac filter

Where is the filter for the hvac system and how hard is it to get to? I can probably pick up the filter myself to save a few bucks off a shop price getting the part; but I need to know where its located and how hard it is to get to. Thamks

Open the glove compartment and way back in there is a slider. Grab it and move it to the right and it should come off (it could be left, but you can't go wrong as there is give in only one direction). When you pull the cover out, keep track of which way it needs to go (there is marking on it too). Once you pull the cover, the filter is visible and extractable. Again keep track of which way is up. The replacement comes as the whole tray or the filter insert.

Nowhere in Hypervish's provided link in post 2, mentions washing the filter.

Washing the filter is a bad idea due to the material type.

Well; someone in that other thread fast; mentioned washing it rather than replacing the filter. But yea i always thought replacing it was the right way to go anyways. Do you know how much they go for? cause I may have to wait until i get more $ to do it. With me $ is always a never ending thing lol.(dont ask why; long story lol)

you can get them on ebay less than $5 each shipped. Most auto parts stores have them as well for much more.

Well; the least expensive ive found so far on ebay is like 8 bucks and change. But thats for a carbonized filter which yes i have heard of. But whats the real difference between a regular hvac filter and a carbonized one?

Pop the two clips and lift the lid

Matt .. If you can tell visually the air filter is bad ... you should have changed it months ago.

Carbonized filter will eliminate not only dust and pollen, but will eliminate the odours as well. Lets say when you are driving behind an old diesel car, you won't feel the smell.

And for sure the paper filter doesn't cost that much to worth washing it.
Just change it-it is a 2 min. job.
