Question Different RX Front Grille?

I'm in the process of retro-fitting my 1999 RX 300 to a 2003 RX, and noticed driving today a couple RX's in my travels. I spied a different front end grille than that's on my car now. Is there a different grille for the 2003's? I didn't think there was, just noticed these over the past week, and m beginning to wonder if they're (still making) RX 300's, even with the introduction of the RX 330's...can anyone give me anything to go on here? I'm trying to find pictures on the internet of this grille, but didn't see any. I know it was a later-edition RX because of the rear tail lights on color(s) in monotone paint...

Thanks,

-Dan

Are you talking about the electric razor type grills? If so, they are possibly the 2001 SilverSports or 2002 Coach edition grills

there shouldn't be any difference in the standard grills from 99 to 03. gsenthil is right - only the silversport and the recent coach editions had the monotone paint in the lower cladding and the laser cut grills (which look like a sporty black metal mesh from a distance).

Talking

Guys, that's exactly what it looks like (what you described) and what I'm talking about. Since my Lexus isn't a "Coach" edition, I can rest easy seeing I didn't forget anything in my retro-fitting process...thanks!

Actually, the 2001 to 2003 have a different grille than earlier years. The Lexus logo is larger and the vertical elements are different--you need to see them side by side to tell the difference.

oh yeah, that's right. the shape is the same, but the logo is slightly larger in 2001+, and the vertical "stripes" have thin chrome trim. good catch!

Here is the exact same vehicle (mine) with the 2001-2003 grill and 2001-2003 headlights...

Same bolts on both grill and headlights.

The newer grill has less vertical lines on the grill, has a larger logo and has a chrome strip on the vertical lines. Took me maybe 5 minutes to remove the old and install the new.

The older grille has 13 vertical lines, the newer grill has 9 vertical lines.

I have also done the taillight conversion. Not aftermarket taillights, but actual Lexus taillights.

You should find all of your answers on this post:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ghlight=badams

Here the new taillights are discussed in great detail, lots of pictures, deep discussion on them.

I paid something like $250 for the actual Lexus taillights off eBay, the auction was a Buy It Now, obviously the guy had no idea what they were worth.

I love the new headlights and taillights. The grill and other small things are just the sprinkles, the headlights and taillights are the frosting on the cake.

Yeah, I've seen that grill before, one person on Clublexus noted that it made the RX look like the Kia Sorento (a cheap immitation of the RX300). I know the Kia Sorento already looks a lot like the RX, but then I noticed the grill on the Sorento and it looks almost identical to the RMM grill.

See picture.
