Just returned from a trip to Florida in our 2000 RX300. 3300 miles total roundtrip. Zeroed computer at start of trip and we averaged 22.3 mpg. A lot of the miles were with cruise on at about 73 mph. Burn 87 octane gas, with prices ranging from $1.45 to $1.79.

man, there's a lot of highway drivers here. i'm an 80% city driver and 20% hwy. i get an average of 17 -18 combine. there's nothing wrong with low mpg. you only have to pay more on the gas pump. city driving kills my gas money!

Default Gas mileage posts

I think the reason so many people are enquiring into others gas mileage is due to the earlier '99 & '00 Rx's having smaller gas tanks.

This combined with the fact the reserve light comes on really early (12-15 litres left), leaves rather poor mileage on a full tank (350 kilometers or 218 miles) in my case...

I have never owned a car that only gave me 218 miles on a full tank before reserve light came on. Especially if it was mostly highway mileage..

Cheers,

Fern

On some days of heavy use, I average about 12.5 to 12.9. I am in a much higher elevation, and the gas is not as good as American quality. Most of the time I average about 16 to 17 mpg in citry driving at 7,000 to 7,700 foot altitude. In the states, I get about 22-23.

My driving consists of mostly city and some highway, mostly with AC on and I'm averaging right around 16mpg on a 2001 AWD. Some may have the setting on average mph by mistake. This threw me off a few times.

I took my mife's 01 RX300 (FWD) for a week to commute to work (60 miles round trip, 90% hightway). It averaged 23.4 miles. The funny thing is that I reset the computer after the fill-up, after a week of driving, the computer says 42.5 MPG! I guess we just can't trust that on-board computer. My wife normally gets 17-18 MPG driving around the town. We use premium grade gas (93 octan) from Chevran.

Actually a friend of mine owns the RX330 and I know that he actually gets 24mpg.; but then again it's hawaii so no one reli drives that fast, about 55-60 mph on the freeway. That's also using premium because he noticed that the computer says he can cruise futher than using unleaded plus.

Week to week communiting on mostly highway I receive about 340-360 miles per tank, up to about 17.5 gallon fill up, so I know I can stretch it out a bit more and maybe carry it out to 375 miles per tank.

That is not bad for city miles. I get 12 to 14 when I drive to work and back, about a 500 foot drop/rise in elevation (7,500 to 8,000 feet in elevation here) each way and city traffic here in Mexico City. This marks a change from my earlier posting of over two years ago, but I work in a different location now from back then.

I've got 21.2 from day one. Few months ago I bump up the tire pressure from 34 to 36 in front and 32 to 34 on rear. Now I've got 21.4, cool! I can have 260~280 miles per tank (90% freeway, 10% city).

Francis, that is interesting on the tire pressures.

Would you by chance be running the 235-70-16 size or something else other than stock with that psi?
