There are people actually getting 27 mpg or more in this thing? I don't believe it. I really don't. Even in FWD.

My 1999 RX is getting 18.5 MPG. I was tempted to replace the OS sensor's but I think I'll wait for a error code to appear first due to sensor pricing. As noted earlier, one should disconnect the battery first and allow the computer to reset first and then note changes, if any. 80% of my driving is freeway. Oh I forgtot to mention, I have 168,000 miles on my RX300. Pures like a kitten.

yeah personaly,I dont believe in preventive maintainance re.sensors.They pretty much work,or they dont.Just replace in pairs, when they do go bad.Cost more, but you will be glad you did.And use quality gasoline, preferably top tier.

I am doing a test for one week next week, where I will use the low grade, high sulfur 87 octane Magna sold down here. I want to see the effects on MPG given the octane difference being at altitude and notice any MPG and also power effects on the track.

Still 1 MPG above, give or take .1, I had been running in the high 14s for a bit (will tell people why in the afternoon or evening), but not back up to 15.6 or 15.7. Performance wise, hard to say, feels like the torque is better on the low end (could be a reason for my crummy 60 foot times at the track), but on the high end I feel like I lose something with this Magna (the 87 octane). Tranny is still holding up okay, no records time records, but I almost clipped my km/h 125.80 record over the weekend in even warmer weather than the night of that record, actually a 125.77 on Saturday night, but that was on Premium 92 octane.

now you're getting me intrigued. I'm running low 10's in my stang at the 1/4 mile. You running anything on the RX?

Anyhow, my MPG suck, prob cause I have P1135 to deal with. I'm cleaning the MAF right now and will try to clean the speed sensors to see if that cleans the Trac Off from coming on...

27 mpg? Either pure BS, or measuring wrong. Any RX300 would be lucky to run 24-25 mpg. 27, must be a route going 80% downhill, sort of like Clinton's campaign...

We have people of all political persuasions on this site.

It is not impossible for an RX300 to run 27 mpg, but continously, I agree with you, quite a difficult deal to do.

my contribution to the discussion:
RX300 AWD, 2000, used in Ohio, 110K.
80% highway+20% city = 20.5 MPG
50% highway+50% city = 18-18.5 MPG
100% city = 15-16 MPG
100% highway (cruising at 65 MPH, travel in OH (plains), PA, WV (hills, mountains) = 20 MPG
I always use 89 grade gasoline.
